What is a Cuttlebug?
with Michelle Hartjes

A Cuttlebug is a die cutting and embossing machine.

What is it used for?
It is used with dies and embossing folders to cut out shapes and emboss any of your own paper or cardstock.

Why do we like it?
Unlike electronic die cutting machines, the Cuttlebug does not need power to function. It is also small and compact and easy to transport. We also love the added feature of being able to emboss your papers and you can use the larger A6 folders to perfectly emboss the front of your hand made cards.

Another advantage is the Cuttlebug also accepts other leading brands of dies you may already own. The Cuttlebug can also cut through many different materials including cork, thin metal, thin wood, thin fabrics, thin felt, cardstock, Bazzill, poster board, chipboard and fun foam just to name a few. See our video on How to Use a Cuttlebug to learn how to use the dies and embossing folders with the Cuttlebug.

Features to look out for:
There are a great range of Cuttlebug cutting die shapes for your projects and pages as well as alphabets, embossing folders and the new combo packs of dies with matching embossing folders.

My best buy recommendation:
When buying your Cuttlebug, consider purchasing some extra replacemet pads and blocks as they are a consumable and will need to be replaced every 300 - 500 cuts. There are also cuttlebug storage binders to help you organise your dies and embossing folders..

My favourite:
My favourite dies are the 3x3 Halloween die, and the alphabet typewriter die but there are so many great embossing folders its hard to list them all.
