Step 1
Place your paper onto the Cricut mat and then load it into the Cricut by pressing load paper. For more detailed directions on how to load your paper into the Cricut, please see the video Cricut: How to Load Your Paper. |

Step 2
You will now need to set the speed and pressure according to the type of paper you are cutting in your Cricut, using the two round grey dials on the left-hand side of the machine. The top grey dial on the left-hand side is for speed and the one below that is for setting the pressure. So for example, when cutting on a heavy cardstock, set your speed at low and your pressure on maximum, which allows the machine enough time to do a better cut. If using thinner paper, you would have different settings. Please refer to your Cricuts' manual for the guide to settings for each type of paper. |

Step 3
Now you can set the size you wish for your letter or shape. Using the round grey dial on the right-hand side of the machine to set the size. The selected size will appear on the LCD screen when you turn the dial. For more information on the dials and other buttons, please see the video Cricut: How to Use the Buttons & Dials. |

Step 4
It is now time to select what you want to cut. If you want to select the image that appear in black on your Cricut keypad, you simply press that key once. If you would like to select the image that appears in grey on the keypad, you must first press the shift button, and then the key you need. |
Step 5
Once your image is selected, press the round grey 'Cut' button on the right-had side, and the Cricut will start cutting out your selected shape. |
| Note 1: If you choose one of the pre-programmed words or sayings at the bottom of some keypads (for example, 'Thinking of You' on the George keypad), they will cut out as a whole with the letters and words all joined. If you are typing your own letters individualy on the keyboard to form a word, they will cut out seperately as individual letters.
Note 2: When you are cutting, be sure to leave enough room free at the rear of the machine so as the mat is moving back and forwards, it is not going to bump anything and affect the image you are cutting.
Step 6
To remove the mat when the cutting is complete, press the 'Unload Paper' button and the mat will roll out of the Cricut machine. |
Step 7
To remove your shapes from the Cricut mat, it is handy to have a tool kit to assist you in lifting the image without damaging it. Use the Spoon-shape tool to gently lift the corcer of the image, and then carefully pull to ease the shape from the mat. If you try to pull the shape up, you may get a tear or bend and the finish will not be as nice as you had hoped. |
