How to Journal in Pen on Your Pages
with Michelle Lindenmayer
|
Scrapbook journaling is one of the most important aspects of our scrapbook layouts. It does not take much to master journal writing techniques, as it is simply writing about the what, where, why, and most importantly how you feel, and why this photograph represents a special memory.
Telling the story behind the photo is one of the most important reasons why we scrapbook, and the benefits of journal writing to children and family are immeasurable, both now, and for future generations. Many of us though, are scared to use our own handwriting for fear that it is not neat enough. Using pen to handwrite on your pages may not be as perfect as the computer, but it is certainly more meaningful. We should remember how important it will be for future generations to be able to see a piece of us through our handwriting.

So be sure to journal on pages, and some of the time journal in pen, so your handwriting can add it’s personality to the page. Journal writing techniques are simple and provide wonderful benefits, particularly to children and family.

Step 1
Firstly, you will need to choose an acid-free pen to do your journaling. Pens come in many different colours and tip sizes and thicknesses. In this video Michelle is using a black acid-free Zig pen. |

Step 2
To avoid ruining your page and making any spelling mistakes, you can do your journaling in pencil first. This also helps with your positioning and spacing. If you are worried about your writing appearing straight, it is a good idea to use your pencil and ruler to draw some feint lines on your page. |

Step 3
Then, take your pencil and lightly write out your journaling on your lines or in the position you would like to appear. |

Step 4
When you are happy with how your pencilled journalling looks, you can then write over the top of it with your acid-free pen. |

Step 5
Allow this to dry for a minute or so and then use your eraser to rub out any pencil marks that are showing. |
