Die
Shapes used in die cutting tools which have a blade similar to a cookie cutter, but sharp enough to cut through paper, material, chipboard and more. The blade is generally surrounded by foam and requires pressure from a die cutting tool to cut the shape. There are a huge range of different die shapes and letters available for your pages and projects.

Die-cutting Machines
A machine that cuts shapes or letters from card stock and other materials using dies. Some well-known brands are Cuttlebug, Sizzix and Accu-Cut.

Doodling
Using a pen to create hand-drawn patterns (either free-hand or using a stencil) for embellishment.

Matting a photo with two background papers.

Dry brushing
Applying paint or chalk to a brush, and then wiping any excess off prior to using it. This creates a “dry” effect, where paint does not run and chalk is light in colour. Particularly good when painting using stencils, or when a delicate effect with chalk is required.

Dry Embossing
Using a stylus or other embossing tool to create a raised or depressed design in paper, card stock, crafting metal or other surface. There is no heat or embossing powder used in this method.

|
|
Dye
A coloured liquid, which can be used on almost any product to change the colour. Generally used on fabric or paper to get an even colour change such as fabric flowers dyed to match your page. Dye can be applied by sponging, dipping, washing, spraying or writing with a skewer.
