Calligraphy
Formal old fashioned writing, usually done with a special calligraphy pen and ink.

Cardstock
Sturdy, solid coloured papers used in scrapbooking. Can be used on their own in or in coordination with patterned papers.

Chalking
The art of applying chalks to papers for enhancement.

Chalks
Traditionally only for blackboards, acid-free chalks (available in many colors) are used to brighten, shade and enhance and alter the appearance of any paper and paper-based products in your layout. Excellent for providing suttle effects and instant colour changes on your projects without drying time.

Charms
Embellishments which are often made of metal, and have a loop attachment, through which to hang or attach the charm to pages or projects.

|
Chipboard
It is a thick compressed cardboard, which looks grey in its raw form, a little thicker than a coaster. Popular due to its thickness and comes in all shapes and sizes including letters and words. It is used to embellish and add dimension to pages and projects. Can be used in its raw form, or is easily covered, painted or otherwise decorated to add interest and match your pages.

Closures
Items that can be added to items on your pages allowing them to be opened and closed for added interest such as buckles, D-rings, and clasps.

Coasters
A solid card feature that looks like a coaster you would rest your drink on but in scrapbooking it is used as an accent on your page and will usually have a gorgeous pattern or quote on it.

Collage
Overlapping arrangement of page accents and elements such as ephemera, small photos and embellishments.

Color Blocking
Using blocks of different coloured paper to create page backgrounds.

Colour Wheel
A circular graph which shows color relationships and placement in relation to each other.

Corner punch
A punch that cuts a shape or pattern on the corners of your paper the most common being a plain round corner punch, but come in large range of decorative corner cut-out shapes.

Crimper
Also known as a paper crimper, this is a tool that pinches paper into regular folds and adds dimension and a pattern or texture to flat paper.

|
|
Cropping
The cutting or trimming of photos to achieve a desired shape, size or effect. Photographs are cropped to highlight the focal point and remove any unnecessary details including those that do not enhance or relate to the overall theme.

|
Cutting mat
Used to protect the blade on your knife as well as the surface you are working on, cutting mats can be transparent or feature a grid of measurements. They are usually made from plastic or glass. Some plastic mats are also 'self-healing' which means that the cuts will not damage the mat and often cannot be seen.
